DTCC kicks off 5-year extension in 2025
The Digital Twin Cities Centre (DTCC) is set to embark on its next phase, with a five-year extension approved by Vinnova. Beginning in 2025, DTCC 2 will focus on driving sustainable urban development, bridging research and industry, and delivering practical tools to revolutionize city planning and construction in Sweden.
The competence centre Digital Twin Cities Centre, DTCC, has been approved to continue its work for another five years. Starting in 2025, DTCC 2 will, together with its partners, focus on taking the next steps in enabling the future of city planning and construction through the Digital Twin City concept.
A key element of DTCC 2 is expanding its focus on PhD and industrial PhD programs to drive interdisciplinary research and bridge academia and industry.
“We’re very excited to be able to continue with five more years of work in the Digital Twin City area together with our partners. To help strengthen us further, we plan to recruit six new PhD students and three industrial PhDs. These researchers will focus on practical challenges in digital twin applications, ensuring their work contributes to both scientific advancement and real-world impact”, says Anders Logg, director of DTCC.
Practical tools for urban development
Areas important to DTCC 2 will be advancing data-driven urban planning, promoting lifecycle sustainability in design, transforming construction processes through digital technologies, and enhancing urban modeling with AI and simulation. A stronger emphasis will also be placed on visualization tools to make complex data accessible and actionable for stakeholders.
“Our focus is on delivering solutions that not only push the boundaries of Digital Twin research, but also provide practical tools for sustainable and inclusive urban development”, says Anders Logg, director of DTCC.
