DTTC receives grants from Trafikverket and CMB for visualization of health and sustainability effects in infrastructure models

Two project applications, MiljöVis II: Effective representation of health and sustainability effects in infrastructure models with a focus on environmental factors and social consequences and MålVis: Digitized goal conflict management in complex projects – Visualization of environmental data linked to health and sustainability effects were successful and received in total 4.35 million SEK in grants from Trafikverket (the Swedish Transport Administration) and CMB (Centre for Management of the Built Environment) for a joint 2.5-year long project, beginning in January 2022.

The transdisciplinary projects MiljöVis II and MålVis aim to further develop and scale up methods and solutions for visualization of environmental data (air, sound, and social consequences) in Trafikverket’s large coordination models, developed in the pilot study MiljöVis – Effective representation of environmental data in infrastructure models. The focus in the new project lies on how to visualize combined parameters to see their combined effects, thus exploring their joint environmental and social impact. The goal of the project is to develop a visual syntax for visualization of complex data in 3D models and create clearer means of communication, more efficient decision-making, and contribute to a more effective quality assurance during the planning and construction process. An additional goal is to be able to predict the health and sustainability effects of different measures more easily in these models, as well as to be able to see synergies and conflicts between different target images.

The project will be carried out by Research Area 6 – Visualization & Auralization in close collaboration with Research Area 0 – Digital Twin Platform.
